Squarespace or Shopify Tutoring or Demo
Got questions? Spending too much time looking for instructions or videos on how to make changes to your Squarespace or Shopify website?
Save time and your sanity and try our 30-minute 1:1 tutoring service tailored to your needs.
This is not a class with a set agenda. Instead, you’ll let us know what you want to focus on.
Most requested topics:
Make changes to a page, blog post or product — guidance and specific steps
Best way to organize shop navigation
When and how to use code snippets for fancier features
How to use email marketing or other Squarespace and Shopify options or integrations
Honest advice and recommendations about your website’s design and/or Brand
This session can also be used for a demo if you do not have Squarespace or Shopify but would like to see these tools at work in a Q&A-based overview.
Note: If your site was built by a developer using extensive custom coding and you no longer want to use their services, changing of that code is not included in our tutoring offer. Instead, we can examine your goals to see if less code-dependent apps and integrations could work for you.
What to expect:
It’s 1:1 and customized. When you sign up, we’ll ask what kind of help you need.
We do not make the changes for you; instead we explain and/or demonstrate how to make changes. (If you instead want us to make changes for you, then a Technical Support Plan might be better suited to your needs.)
If requested, we can take multiple screenshots while walking you through a task and send them to you after the session. We also recommend that you take notes.
We want to optimize your learning time, so we’ll dive right into your questions.
It’s not a sales call. We’re always happy to talk about our other services if you want, but that’s up to you.
After the session, we’ll send a Summary of what we discussed, explained, and recommended.
You’re welcome to schedule future sessions for 10% off whenever you want more help.
Please know that website platforms make changes to the names and locations of their features all the time. If you maintain your own website, you’ll need to be flexible and adapt to these changes.
Payment and scheduling:
You’ll pay for the session in advance (below) and then receive a scheduling link via the email you provide. Tutoring sessions are offered most weekdays from 11am - 1pm Pacific Time.
An evening session (between 5pm - 9pm Pacific Time) can be arranged for an additional $25.
After you schedule the session, you’ll get 2 email reminders: 24 hours before the session, and 1 hour before the session.
You can reschedule your appointment up to 12 hours before your original session date and time, twice.
Requirements:
We’ll meet on Zoom; camera optional. We’ll send a Zoom link to you prior to our meeting.
You must be willing to share your screen within Zoom so that we can guide you as needed.
You must be using a computer during the session, not a phone or tablet.
A basic level of technical skills is expected for anyone trying to maintain their own website.
Policies:
We do not teach (nor recommend) how to use the Squarespace phone/tablet app for making changes to your website.
Once you learn how to make changes using a computer and full web browser, you can experiment on your own using the app.
We do not teach coding other than a basic overview of how to use and place code snippets. Code snippets can be very useful for websites.
In our experience, some developers or agencies can go overboard in their use of code, which makes it harder for DIYers to maintain their site. If your site was built by an agency that decided to use extensive code on your site, we can help assess the situation and make recommendations.
Website platforms make changes to the names and locations of their features all the time; we are not responsible for these changes. If we show you how to change something but the platform changes the name or access point after that, we are not responsible for re-educating you on these changes, but you can schedule a new session if needed.
If you’re a no-show due to a true emergency and were unable to reschedule 12 hours ahead of your original session date and time, you can select a new date and time.
After two no-shows, you’ll need to pay $35 for a third opportunity, because every no-show (vs. reschedule) uses up a time slot that could have been used by someone else.
After three no-shows, we'll conclude that you will not be using the service.
We do not issue refunds for unused time during the session.
We do not issue refunds for his service.
If later you do not recall what you learned or do not have the minimum technical skills necessary to make the changes as instructed, we would advise you to consider a Technical Support Plan either from us or another provider.
This tutoring and demo is not sponsored by, affiliated with, nor officially endorsed by Squarespace or Shopify.
