How We’re Different
There are plenty of book “publishing” businesses out there that promise a wide range of services, from writing to publishing to marketing. Many are incredibly expensive (as in thousands) or outright scams. We’ve helped publish several books, and the marketing scam emails our author clients receive after publishing can be quite convincing. (We highly recommend following the Writer Beware Blog for this reason.)
Of the more legitimate book businesses, one big difference with Austen Agency is that we’re not actually your publisher; we’re your publishing assistant. We help with many of the content and technical steps of publishing for one-time fees only; we’re not funneling royalties to you after you publish.
When we help publish your book, all accounts (such as Amazon) are in your name, and all royalties are paid directly to you. We can then work with you on marketing as a separate service.
How It Works
We offer an incredibly flexible, affordable approach to making your dream a reality. With Austen Agency, you’ll select only the services you think you’ll need, and then pay as you go for each service.
There’s never any timeline pressure. You can progress through each of these phases as you’re ready:
Phase 1: Content Strategy: We’ll help you think through and establish your goals, reader benefit, title and subtitle, description, organization (including sections and chapters), image use, page length goals, style, and more.
Phase 2: Content Editing: At various points in the process, we’ll assess your manuscript to ensure proper grammar, spelling, and overall flow from an objective reader.
Phase 3: Cover Design: We’ll create three design options for you to choose from for the front and back of your book.
Phase 4: Technical Production & Publishing: We’ll move your manuscript into specialized paperback, eBook, and downloadable formats. This is a very detailed phase that includes account setup assistance, ongoing format adjustments, quality checks, ISBN assignment, full production, price and royalty determinations, assistance setting up your payouts, and final publishing on Amazon.
Phase 5: Marketing Consultation: We’ll discuss and offer marketing recommendations tailored to your needs and budget.

Non-Fiction or Fiction Book
Versions Produced: Paperback, eBook, and Downloadable PDF
The following prices are based on our most common project: A paperback book of 100 - 150 pages at an industry-standard size of 5.5" x 8.5" with 11 or 12 pt. font size (~ ½ inches thick), printed by and for sale on Amazon, as well as Kindle eBook and PDF formats. Other options will alter these prices, including longer book length, book sizes, and styles (such as hardcover). Final pricing will be determined after your free consultation.

The following prices are based on our most common Art Showcase Book project: Hardcover 7” x 10” or 8.25” x 11” book printed by and for sale on Amazon with minimal copy of up to 40 pages. Other publisher options, book sizes, and styles (such as paperback or magazine-style booklets) are also available. Final pricing will be determined after your free consultation.
